HISTORY

The Friends of the Vineyard Haven Public Library grew out of the Library League which began in 1878. The Friends encourage public understanding of the Library's vital role in the community, support activities for both adults and children, and provide various other volunteer services.

Our mission is to support the Library, to build a partnership between the Library and the community and to advocate for quality library service.

Volunteers can participate in the various committees of the Friends: Membership, Publicity, Programming, Hospitality, Exhibits, and more. They also help directly in the Library's daily operation by shelving books.
